The Complete Guide to SEAI Solar Grants in 2026

The Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland (SEAI) offers significant grants for homeowners who install solar PV panels — and Cork Solar Installers is SEAI-registered to help you claim every euro you're entitled to.

How Much Can You Claim?

As of 2026, the SEAI Better Energy Homes grant for solar PV is:

  • €900 for systems up to 2kWp
  • €1,500 for systems between 2kWp and 4kWp
  • €2,100 for systems of 4kWp and above (with battery storage)

Most family homes in Cork are best suited to a 3–4kWp system, making the €1,500–€2,100 grant range the most common.

Who Is Eligible?

To qualify, your home must have been built and occupied before 2021. Apartments and new builds do not qualify for this scheme. The installation must be carried out by an SEAI-registered contractor — which Cork Solar Installers is.

The Application Process

  1. Get a quote from an SEAI-registered installer (we handle this for you)
  2. We submit the grant application on your behalf before installation begins
  3. Installation takes place — typically one day for a standard home
  4. SEAI inspects the installation (a sample of jobs are inspected)
  5. Grant paid directly to you within 4–6 weeks of approval

Don't Miss the Microgeneration Tariff

Since 2022, homeowners with solar panels can sell excess electricity back to the grid through the Clean Export Guarantee (CEG). With electricity prices remaining high, this can add hundreds of euros per year to your savings.
